Natalie George; Academy Instructor

Posted by on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 (UMST)

Teaching ballet, tap, pre-pointe and classes for 18-month-olds in Panhandle.

Natalie grew up in Amarillo and began her ballet training under Neil and Camille Hess.  Since the age of nine, and at the request of her instructors, she began auditioning for ballet companies.  Though a tom boy at heart, and with a bb gun in hand, she soon fell in love with the ballet.  Natalie then went on to fulfill many ballet scholarships.  Looking back in her childhood diary, were listed 3 goals.  One, to meet George Balanchine, Two, to study at the School of American Ballet at Juilliard, and Three, to one day own and operate her own dance studio.  Unfortunately, one of those goals was never accomplished.  George Balanchine had passed away one year before her acceptance into the school.  Natalie did however have the opportunity to train under Suki Shorer, Alexandra Danilova, Stanley Williams, Antoinette Tumkovsky, and other renowned artists.

While in New York, she represented the School of American Ballet in an article and a fashion lay out for the magazine "Women’s Wear Daily"  After being a principal dancer in a variety of shows, under varies ballet directors, Natalie went on to study education, having taught pre k, kindergarten, and first grade.  With one goal achieved from that childhood diary, stood another, to own and operate her own dance studio.  The opportunity came after she made the choice to stay at home and care for her 4 children. Her dance studio successfully ran from 2001 - 2007.  The last two years were spent caring for her mother until her mother's recent death.

Natalie is looking forward to a new chapter, taking her previous studio to the fullest in which the students will grow and flourish under the many disciplines offered by Lone Star Ballet.
