Mark Sellers; Academy Coordinator

Mark Sellers; Instructor -- teaching Musical Theatre at the Amarillo Academy and the coordinator over the satellite academies.

Mark is very happy to return to Lone Star Ballet and Lone Star Dance Academy after living and working in Los Angeles, Ca for 20 years. Originally from the Panhandle area, Mark studied Theatre Education and Dance at WTAM as well as studied with Lone Star Ballet for 3 years. During this time, Mark was also a dancer in the Outdoor Drama TEXAS.

 

Immediately upon moving to Los Angeles, he became involved in many theme park stage productions including Disney’s Beauty and The Beast (originating show cast), Toy Story and numerous Disney industrials. He also performed for many Universal Theme Park shows and industrials. Mark soon worked his away onto the musical theatre stage throughout all of the Los Angeles and Southern California area.  Performing in such musicals as Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Unsinkable Molly Brown, Sweet Charity, Cabaret, Oliver, King and I, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, My Fair Lady,  just to name a few. He has also worked in various corporate industrials throughout the world as well as Dance Captain and Assistant Cruise Director for Princess Cruise Lines World Cruise. Mark also has enjoyed being director/choreographer of Theatre Camp for the Malibu Ballet Company and Pepperdine University where they received notable praise for the production of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. Mark helped develop and perform with the Men and Women of the Midnight Cowboys. A Los Angeles high energy theatrical country/western performing troupe which has performed on TV, rodeos and industrials throughout the United States and helped raise millions of dollars for such organizations as Elizabeth Taylor’s AMFAR. Elton John’s AIDS foundation and many other numerous non-profit organizations.

 

When not working on the theatre stage, Mark has also enjoyed working as an actor and dancer on numerous TV commercials, music videos, talk shows, sitcoms, and movies.  He worked for three seasons as a choreographer for the ABC Family Network kids lyp-sync competition show Great Pretenders, staring Fergie. When not dancing or choreographing, Mark has also enjoyed working behind the TV scene as production coordinator and associate producer for numerous talk shows.
