Angela Knapp has served eight years on Ballet boards including President of the Lone Star Ballet Guild and two terms as President of the Lone Star Ballet's Board of Directors. She currently serves as the Director of Marketing and Development for the Company. In addition, she served two years on the Board of the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, served on the Board for the Globe News Center for the Performing Arts, the Harrington Cancer Center's Princess Warriors committee and the Randall High School Choir Booster Club.
During her years with the Guild, she served as Co-chairman of both the Nutcracker Ball and Sales Booth committees. She has been nominated for Golden Nail Awards several times, accepting one on behalf of Cabot Corporation in 1982 and Lone Star Ballet in 2004.
With nineteen years of ballet and dance experience and many years in the business environment, she hopes to help take Lone Star Ballet to a higher level of quality and awareness through her position with the Ballet.
She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance with emphasis in Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma in 1980. While at the University, she toured with their select company, served as a student advisor to department faculty and was listed on the Dean's Honor Roll. During her years performing, she was awarded nineteen ballet scholarships and three awards for outstanding achievement. She was a cast member of "Texas" for three summers where she danced leading roles and worked on staff.
Angela is the mother of Shelby and Philip Knapp and a member of Hillside Christian Church. Aside from her family and church focus, the Ballet is her main loyalty
