How do I enroll in classes at LSDA?

Students can enroll in classes by calling the office during normal business hours or Register Online. Academy classes are on a nine month schedule beginning September through May during the regular season and June – August during the summer.

How do I register online for classes if I am already currently enrolled in LSDA?

All your family information has already been put into the system. Once set up online, you do not have to do this again. All you need to do now is:

  1. Go to the Lone Star Dance Academy main page and click on your Academy.
  2. Click Access Family Account.
  3. Click on forgot your password and enter your registered email address on file with LSDA. (REMINDER – Do NOT click on “register” as you are ALREADY REGISTERED in the system with LSDA).
  4. Once you have entered your registered email address, an email will be sent to you. Please check that email and open the message from info@lonestarballet.org that contains the subject line “Reset Password for Lone Star Dance Academy”. Click on the link in the email to reset your password.
  5. Congratulations, your online account is now setup to sign into your account and register for all LSB/LSDA classes.

Don’t forget. All release forms MUST be filled out before class. You can pick up release forms at your Academy or by clicking on Release Forms.

Where can I find a class schedule?

Depending on the time of year and season attending (Fall, Summer, ect), schedules can be located on each Academy page using the ‘search classes’ link. Summer Schedules are separate from Fall/Spring Schedules.

What if I want to add or drop a class?

Classes can be added or dropped by calling the main office at (806) 372-2463.

What is required to enroll in Amarillo’s Company classes or the Performing Ensemble Classes in the LSDA Satellite locations?

Company and Ensemble auditions are held each fall. Enrollment into Company classes must be approved through Vicki McLean, Director of Dance and Performing Ensembles approved by the Studio Director of each location.

What is Dance 411?

Dance 411 are informative parent meetings that will be held twice a year once in the fall and once in the spring to bring parents up to date on scheduled activities and events. These meetings are held at each Academy. Notifications of these meetings will be e-mailed and a handout will be passed out in class prior to meetings.

Do you have a Referral Program?

Lone Star Dance Academy has the Spotlight Society Referral Program. If you recommend a friend between Sept. 1 and March 1 as a new student to the Lone Star Dance Academy with all paperwork submitted you will save full-price on your next month’s tuition. Forms can be downloaded from this website.

How do I find out information about the Academy Unleashed Production in May?

All needed information will be given out during the Spring Dance 411 parent meeting. You can also pick up a Performance Handbook from the front desk or instructor in the spring.

Are parents allowed to observe classes?

Visitors are allowed in the studios WITH prior permission from the Director of Dance, Academy Director and/or the instructor, or during Parent Observation times. Parent Observation Days are scheduled by the Academy Director for the sole purpose of watching your dancer’s progress.

Parents in the Amarillo Academy may view classes when the observation windows are opened by the Directors and/or the instructors. Satellite Academies must be limited to two (2) visitors per dancer due to available studio space. All children viewing must be controlled and not allowed to run around the studio for their safety and the dancer’s safety.

Observations are limited so the dancer can fully focus on the learning process of the class. Visitation for parents/visitors is scheduled so the viewing party can fully recognize the progress made by the dancer.

At what age do you begin training in pointe shoes?

The beginning training on pointe is at the discretion of the Director of Dance and the Academy Director.

Where can I found out what should be worn for class?

Specific attire and hair policies do apply for attending classes at LSDA. Please refer to Academy Handbook for details or you can call the office.

What do I need to do if my child is going to miss a class?

If a class is going to be missed, please inform your instructor as soon as possible. Last minute missed classes should be directed to the main front desk at (806) 372-2463.

What is the Academy’s policy on inclement weather?

In some cases, the Academy will be closed due to bad weather. Weather cancellations will be posted on the website an email will be sent as soon as possible. Cancelled classes will be made up based on instructor and studio availability.

How do I know what level my child should be enrolled?

Lone Star Dance Academy reserves the right to place students in the appropriate level and to revise the curriculum if necessary. Please contact office if you need help in finding the appropriate class.

How much is tuition and when is it due?

Tuition is paid monthly and not per class. Tuition is based on the number of classes the dancer is enrolled in for the nine-month term. There are three payment options:

  1. Monthly – tuition is due on the 1st of each month, payment is late after the 10th of the month and a late fee of $15 is assessed on the account after the 15th of that month.
  2. Quarterly – tuition is due the 1st of the month of September, December, and March. Payment is late after the 10th of said months and a late fee of $15 is assessed to the account after the 15th of the month. A 5% discount is given for tuition paid by the quarterly system.
  3. Total in Full – Full nine-month tuition is paid at the beginning of the session. A 10% discount is assessed for tuition paid in full.
  • 1 Class/Week: $50
  • 2 Classes/Week: $65
  • 3 Classes/Week: $75
  • 4 Classes/Week: $100
  • 5 Classes/Week: $125
  • Unlimited: $150

What is the average cost of a May Academy Unleashed Performance costume?

The cost of one costume ranges from $30 – $60. However, a combo class (i.e. – ballet/ tap, jazz/tap) could possibly have two costumes. We spend hours researching affordable good quality costumes for your child.

What are the other the fees for the Academy?

Registration Fee of $30 per student is due upon registration and is non-refundable. This fee registers a student for an entire nine-month season plus any possible summer programs. For dancers participating in Academy Unleashed, the Registration Fee will serve as a credit to the student’s account toward paying for their May Production costume(s).

How do I pay my balance and what forms of payment do you accept? Do you offer Automatic Draft?

LSDA accepts cash, checks, and credit cards. For your convenience, we have established automatic draft for your payments each month or each quarter per your payment choice. Automatic drafts are highly recommended and forms can be downloaded from this website.

Do you offer any other discounts for tuition?

A 5% discount is given for tuition paid quarterly and a 10% discount is assessed for tuition paid for the full nine months. Families with two (2) or more dancers enrolled will receive a 10% discount.

Do you offer a payment plan for tuition?

If you would like to set up a payment plan to pay your balance, please contact Elaine Seaton, Financial Administrator.

Are scholarships available?

LIMITED amount of financial aid in scholarships is available and awarded annually to qualified students. This financial aid is provided on a case-by-case basis of financial need as well as merit. All students interested in seeking financial aid awards must submit the required application form and financial information in order to be eligible. In order to maintain any scholarship award, recipients are expected to maintain excellent attendance in classes and participate in rehearsals and performances as requested, act as model students, maintain a good academic standing, adhere to Lone Star Ballet and Lone Star Dance Academy policies, and will be required to assist in work-study projects. You will be notified of any award in writing from the Scholarship Committee.
