Mission Statement
The mission of the Lone Star Ballet, Inc. is to produce and promote the art of
dance; and contribute to the education, culture and entertainment of the people of Texas and the surrounding states.
A Tradition of Excellence . . .
Lone Star Ballet -- founded in Amarillo in 1975 by Neil Hess -- produces one of
the premier Nutcracker Ballets in the State of Texas and beyond. For 35 years,
Lone Star Ballet Inc. (LSB) has become a cultural force in the State of Texas.
The company has two objectives: to serve as a training ground for aspiring young
dancers and to provide enriching dance experiences for the State of Texas.
Our 2010-11 Season of Dance features Dracula, The Nutcracker, Peter and the
Wolf and Lone Star Trilogy. What a line-up!
We own a 17,600 square foot training facility that houses three large studios with
sprung-wood floors and ten-foot mirrors, green room, offices, boardroom and two
warehouses. In addition to ballet, tap and jazz, our instructors offer pointe, Hip
Hop, boy's classes, body conditioning, acting and Broadway theatre.
Collaborations with West Texas A&M University and Amarillo College, and our
own training make for a rewarding relationship and multitudes of opportunities for
area dancers. Dancers from LSB have gone on to find employment with major
dance companies such as: New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Ballet
West, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, South African Ballet and the Cleveland Ballet.
Talent from the company has enriched Broadway shows from: Cats, Chorus
Line, Victor Victoria, Phantom of the Opera, Radio City Music Hall, and more.
Season ticket subscribers to the LSB's Season of Dance have come to expect
high quality productions that combine dance and guest artists such as the Fort
Worth Dallas Ballet, Baryshnikov, St. Petersburg Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, The Joffrey,
North Carolina Dance Theatre, Ailey II and more.
